Urban Farm Church - Community Development Coordinator

The mission of the Urban Farm Church is to create a sustainable urban farm where people center the heart, mind, body, and spirit, and serve their neighbors. We work with community volunteers to develop green space, practice sustainable agriculture, and model the use of renewable resources through free workshops, volunteer opportunities, and regular community events. In 2023, the Urban Farm Church began its work to strengthen food security as well as intercultural relationships in our community. Though still building the Farm, we were able to grow and donate approximately 2,000 pounds of produce to a local food pantry. We have worked with over 150 volunteers and connected with people from a variety of backgrounds through our monthly food and justice workshops on topics from basic gardening to canning. Workshop participants and volunteers learn about sustainable agriculture in order to grow their own food. Volunteers help with virtually all aspects of the farm, from planting to weeding to harvesting. We hosted nine volunteer events on the farm, plus worked with several outside volunteer groups. The food we grow is made available to the community free of charge, increasing food security in an underserved area of Columbus.
