PHENND Fellows-Partnership Coordinator

PHENND (The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development) is a 25-year-old consortium of over 25 colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia region. The consortium seeks to revitalize local communities and promote civic responsibility through service learning among the region's higher education institutions. As part of our K-16 Partnerships Network, the PHENND VISTA project represents a 6th year of partnership with the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) to expand the infrastructure for community partnership development across Philadelphia. SDP is a large urban school district that includes all public schools in Philadelphia. It encompasses 220 traditional public schools and approximately 80 charter schools. Established in 1818, it is one of the ten largest school districts in the United States, serving close to 200,000 children. The VISTA will assist SDP’s Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) in developing systems and processes to support, convene, and gather feedback from key stakeholder groups - this year focused on school-based partnership coordinators. School-based partnership coordinators help schools develop and manage their relationships with external partner organizations (i.e. weekly dance class, after-school programs, mentoring, in-kind donations etc). Partnership coordinators collaborate with principals to determine key priorities for partner programs to support and manage the logistics of programming throughout the year. Member Duties : This VISTA project will involve: 1) supporting the logistics and facilitation of monthly professional development sessions offered to Partnership Coordinators, 2) scheduling and co-facilitating monthly group check-ins with Partnership Coordinators, 3) developing collaborative relationships with partnership coordinators through school visits to assist with implementing topics discussed in professional development sessions & group check-ins, and 4) supporting the implementation of feedback opportunities for Partnership Coordinators including a survey and focus group. We envision this VISTA will help us deepen the support systems for school-based Partnerships Coordinators across District schools, better understand coordinator needs, and help them in meeting the goals and priorities of their school’s partner community.
