UACE Maricopa County Master Gardener Program
 
 
 
Join in and grow your skills with the Maricopa County Extension Master Gardener program. This position supports a variety of strategic initiatives that advance the goals and improve the effectiveness of the Master Gardener program including public outreach and education on water conservation and home horticulture practices for urban desert environments. In partnership with the libraries of Maricopa County, implement a community educational & outreach program to develop presentations and garden-based workshops. Assist in the production of educational presentations and of promotional material for the library workshops with special emphasis on recruiting participants from underserved and non-traditional communities to ensure our community educational activities are reaching as many of people as possible. Further, create and organize the Master Gardener Volunteer Lead Speakers Bureau Committee. Once established, this committee will continue the library outreach goals through organizing speakers, topics, and presentations. The ideal member will have a love of gardening and/or sustainable landscape practices.

Member Duties : Assist with development of a seasonal library outreach program to bring relevant home horticultural & landscape water saving presentations to the public through a partnership with the Maricopa County public libraries. Lead & support the development of a Speakers Bureau Committee of Master Gardener Volunteers who will support the implementation of the library outreach program. Develop promotional materials for the library presentations. Travel to library locations for site evaluations and discussions with library staff on presentation schedules along with the space and materials provided by the libraries for presentation evaluation & development. Attend program meetings as required for shared situational awareness and providing occasional project updates.
