Service Location One of two state park locations Including Burr Oak, and Stonelick State Parks in Southern Ohio Direct Supervisor Mark Allen, Statewide Trails Administrator Service Term Dates June, 2 2024 to August 16, 2024 Service Position Type Part-Time Required Minimum Service Hours Quarter time 300 hrs. General Service Schedule Flexible. Must average approx. 30 hours per week Duties Include Perform manual labor to assist in the advancement of sustainable trail building and trail remediation projects Provide hands-on assistance with visitor access enhancements, trail monitoring and improvements, habitat restoration, invasive species removal and trail signage. Work as a team to plan and purchase necessary camp supplies e.g., food, water, recreational supplies, toiletries, gear, etc. Share camp duties e.g., cooking, cleaning, etc. Minimum Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen, High school diploma or equivalent At least 18 years of age Ability to pass criminal background check Experience with and a passion for working outdoors in nature Ability to do physically strenuous field work in rugged terrain, including the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds and hike up to 5 miles May be exposed to dirt, fumes, dust & outdoor elements e.g. animals, insects, poison ivy Must have a reliable personal vehicle for transportation of self, tools, and supplies to field sites. Preferred Qualifications Previous trail building, earthwork or maintenance experience Camping or outdoor experience Member/Program Benefits Living Stipend of up to $4,200 Post service education award of up to 1,565.08 Training on trail building and remediation, CPR First Aid, safety, chainsaw training, job skills e.g., interviewing, resume preparation Mileage reimbursement if applicable

Member Duties : Americorps members will perform manual labor on a hand crew building new trail at Burr Oak State park in Athens/Morgan County or Stonelick State Park in Clermont County.
