NC Hunger Corps VISTA 2024-2025

**Recruiting 2024-2025 Cohort to start in July or August of 2024! | Currently recruiting for multiple sites: updated on this website https://nccampusengagement.org/how-to-apply-to-become-a-vista-member/. The NC Hunger Corps is an AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsored by North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE). NCCE is a collaborative network of colleges and universities committed to educating students for civic and social responsibility, partnering with communities for positive change, and strengthening democracy. The NC Hunger Corps VISTA will serve with a college or community-based organization to support on-campus and off-campus food security programs that target low-income or disadvantaged college students, staff, and community members. These programs may include campus or community gardens, food recovery efforts modeled on the Campus Kitchen Project or the Food Recovery Network, food pantries, and fresh produce distribution (mobile markets). Hunger Corps members may do activities such as help to raise awareness about nutrition and healthy eating, recruit and train volunteers, design and manage programs including days of service, build systems, networks, and relationships, participate in professional development and much more! Corps members should have a demonstrated passion for promoting food security, experience working or volunteering with students and community members, as well as strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven leadership, project management abilities, and a strong interest & experience in college/university community service programs is beneficial. Service placements are located across the state of North Carolina - for specific sites, please contact Christina Wittstein at cwittstein@ncengage.org. Housing support is provided by most sites. Some placements offer on-campus benefits such as access to meal plan, gym, library, and more.
