NESS SEA AmeriCorps Member
 
 
 
New England Science & Sailing Foundation will have 10 AmeriCorps members serving in two separate positions, STEM Educators and STEM Mentors. STEM Educators will provide STEM-based programs, and classroom and field support. STEM Mentors will provide social-emotional learning support to students in grades K-12 in CT. The NESS SEA AmeriCorps program provides STEM-based ocean adventure learning programs and social-emotional mentoring to underserved students using marine science, adventure sports, and sailing as educational platforms.

Member Duties : ENGAGE students in learning by seeing and doing. TEACH NESS standards-based programs. PROVIDE student support through classroom support & mentoring. MENTOR students to encourage Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) goals. EMPOWER students to discover their personal best by facing new challenges. SHARE enjoyment of the ocean and teach its science to students from all backgrounds. ENCOURAGE students to be positive stewards of their community and environment.
