Share Food Programs Development Coordinator
 
 
 
The number of Philadelphians experiencing food insecurity continues to steadily grow in our region as we see inflation impact many communities. Share Food Program leads the fight against food insecurity in the region by serving an expansive, quality partner network of community-based organizations and school districts engaged in food distribution, education, and food justice advocacy. Philly Food Rescue, Share’s sustainability and food recovery program, resources 300+ neighborhood organizations with one half-million pounds of rescued produce and other surplus and donated food every month. A VISTA will build our team’s capacity to meet its mission of equipping frontline nonprofit partners and building nutrition security, by providing program support, streamlining volunteer management, and allocating surplus food to community partners throughout Greater Philadelphia. A VISTA will also be tasked with supporting the launch of our community fridge project, directly increasing fresh food access to local neighbors and visitors.

Member Duties : Member duties in this role will include: 1. Build capacity within Philly Food Rescue in service of its mission to eliminate food waste, increase local access to fresh food, and resource community partners serving vulnerable populations throughout Greater Philadelphia 2. Execute daily food rescue delivery logistics via Share fleet and PFR volunteers 3. Support volunteer management and recognition for Share Food programs 4. Collaborate with the team, community, and partners to successfully launch a community fridge, impacting local nutrition security 5. Conduct community forums and meetings to build support from community stakeholders 6. Develop and distribute marketing materials to promote the project 7. Provide educational opportunities and materials to support safe food practices 8. Streamline volunteer recruitment to sustain the community fridge project and Philly Food Rescue programming
