LaVetCorps navigators will serve as peer-mentor/counselors on Louisiana college and university campuses to support veteran students and their families as they transition from military to civilian student life. Peer-mentoring activities will include but are not limited to the following: * provide referrals for Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs services * provide referrals to area military service related organizations * provide referrals for community/civic services * provide assistance with campus services/activities * provide a safe and welcoming space for veteran students to promote a sense of community and inclusion on campus * promote suicide prevention among veteran students thru ongoing outreach and community engagement * provide opportunities for veteran students to engage in community service projects that will positively impact the veteran student community * serve as a direct point of contact for faculty/staff with the veteran student community on campus thru outreach and training * promote a military friendly atmosphere on campus by positively engaging the campus and surrounding community in veteran student activities on campus.
