Iowa Community Corps
 
 
 
The Iowa Community Corps is a Public Health AmeriCorps Program that seeks to expand access to food and public health resources in Iowa communities. AmeriCorps members will be partnered with community-based organizations to support capacity building projects with a focus on food security and resource navigation. Capacity building projects expand the scale or reach of program services, and/or increase program efficiency and effectiveness. The Iowa Community Corps also contributes to a strong public health workforce by providing Community Health Worker training and certification to AmeriCorps members.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will be partnered with community-based organizations that are responding to public health needs through food security and resource navigation. Members will focus on projects that build capacity for their organizations while receiving professional training as Community Health Workers. Examples of capacity building projects include developing new programs or services, education and outreach activities, creating systems to improve program efficiency or effectiveness, and conducting research to strengthen an organization's ability to meet community needs.
