Public Health AmeriCorps - Psychosocial Rehabilitative Servi
 
 
 
Provides individual and group Psychosocial Rehabilitative services (PSR) for adults with chronic mental illness using the identified program principles in order to help participants reduce or ameliorate symptoms and to improve independent living skills. Provides education and skill-building sessions, including socialization, illness and medication self-management, recovery planning, healthy-living, and in-vivo cooking sessions with participants. In the Drop-In Center, member is responsible for fostering a safe, motivating, and supportive environment. Provides educational and recreational activities, as well as opportunities for socialization and building natural supports for persons with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.

Member Duties : 1. Educates participants about mental health, substances, medication self-management, healthy living and wellness, and independent living skills. 2. Teaches participants how to utilize community resources and promotes healthy socialization and recreational opportunities. 3. Assists participants in identifying and building natural supports for recovery. Models and implements principals of recovery in accordance with recovery support principles such as develop hope for recovery, increase problem solving skills, develop natural support networks, and empower individuals to participate fully in life in the community 4. Facilitates psychosocial group and individual sessions using the foundations of the PSR curricula, and assists with developing creative interventions. 5. Recognizes early warning crisis signs and diffuses crises using Mandt techniques. Alerts appropriate staff when needed during emergencies and supports team members in responding to incidents.
