Fundraising and Operations Specialist VISTA

Lynnwood and South Snohomish have a large, rapidly growing, Latino community. With an estimated 837,800 residents in 2021, Snohomish County has the third-highest county population in Washington. Many Latinos experience low socio-economic status, with about 28% of Washington’s Latino population overall and 24% of Latino children living in poverty. Compared to the Washington state's poverty rate of 9.75% This segment of our community continues to experience disparities with respect to healthcare, mortality, education, and earnings. These disparities combine to form a path for disaster. The development of a community where all of our neighbors are equally empowered, respected and valued while removing barriers that currently keep the BIPOC community in poverty is a priority to LETI as we strive to provide our immigrant community with an even playing field and to ensure their voices are heard. Fundraising efforts that a VISTA member would engage in compliments the need for increased community support and resources to address the growing BIPOC population accordingly. We are embarking on a capital campaign in order to acquire the space our Latino community deserves, for them to have a place to feel safe and secure while being serviced by people of their own community. This member will ensure our organizational capacity to pursue such fundraising opportunities so that the needs of those living in poverty can be furthered serviced through the various programs LETI offers. Such as GED courses, vocational school, health literacy programs, food bank distribution, along with many other programs.
