Mississippi Mission Acceleration
 
 
 
Mississippi Mission Acceleration (MS MA) is a high-dosage tutoring program designed to ensure that struggling elementary readers receive reading intervention support using a research-based scripted program. MS MA provides support using small-group tutoring sessions to accelerate elementary students’ reading achievement. Members are trained to serve as Academic Guides to deliver the research-based scripted reading intervention program designed to accelerate reading achievement. All Mississippi Mission Acceleration Academic Guides must be enrolled as students at an Institution of Higher Learning (2-year or 4-year) in Mississippi. Members serve 10-12 hours per week. RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend required trainings and member development/service related workshop sessions throughout the year. Accurately record service hours on required timesheets. Provide Mission Acceleration tutoring sessions to K-5 students. Prepare for tutoring sessions prior to delivering session and provide other assistance to service sites.

Member Duties : Members will deliver MS Mission Acceleration in partner sites. Implementation includes: *Interact with elementary students *Tutor assigned K-5 students three to four times per week for 1 hour each using a scripted reading intervention program *Prepare for tutoring sessions *Complete additional individual classroom service working with elementary students and other adults in classrooms or other educational settings
