MDNLC AmeriCorps Program

The MDNLC AmeriCorps program offers a unique opportunity for members to make a positive impact on the community and environment. By removing invasive species from 14 acres of land, including 100% of invasive Chinese Tallow Trees and 25% of other invasive species, members will pave the way for planted native plant species to flourish. Additionally, members will be responsible for constructing and maintaining trails, organizing community events, and educating the public on environmental stewardship. Moreover, AmeriCorps members will have the chance to lead and work alongside volunteers engaged in environmental stewardship activities. The program offers two types of slots: half-time and quarter-time. With 8 half-time and 21 quarter-time slots available, members will be required to complete 900 and 450 hours of service, respectively, over the course of 10 months. Half-time members will be required to complete 20 service hours per week, and minimum-time members will be required to complete 1o service hours per week. Half-time members will receive a $900 monthly living stipend and a $3,697.50 education award upon successful completion of the program. Quarter-time members will receive a $450 monthly living stipend and a $1,956.35 education award upon successful completion of the program. All members in the MDNLC AmeriCorps program will start either on September 4th, 2024, or October 1st, 2024, with service hours available Tuesday-Friday, 12:00 pm-6:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm at MDNLC.
