CMSC AmeriCorps Program: NYPI - Capacity Building Member

ABOUT CMSC AMERICORPS PROGRAM The CMSC AmeriCorps program is a partnership between the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, Inc. (NYSDRA) and several non-profit Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRCs) across the state of New York. NYSDRA is a not-for-profit membership organization committed to the promotion of quality conflict management and peaceful dispute resolution. We build the capacity of the CDRC network by supporting the next generation of diverse, community-based alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practitioners providing services to people, communities, organizations and businesses. At the CDRC Host Site, members are placed in local programming in response to the unique needs of the communities that the CDRCs serve to improve school discipline through social-emotional learning, engage in indirect services to support direct services and program expansion, and support youth and family-based programming and custody visitation. We work with each accepted member to match them to a Host Site that best fits their skills and interests. ABOUT THE CDRC HOST SITE The New York Peace Institute (NYPI) is one of the nation's largest non-profit conflict resolution organizations, helping thousands of people peacefully, creatively, and durably resolve their disputes each year. We provide free conflict resolution services, including mediation, conflict coaching, facilitation, arbitration, and restorative justice processes virtually, and through our Brooklyn and Manhattan Centers, and in cooperation with courts, community-based organizations, schools, and governmental agencies. In addition, we train and credential mediators, host public events on peacebuilding, and provide customized training and consulting services in New York City and beyond.
