AmeriCorps Member Communities In Schools of San Antonio

Members provide research-based integrated student supports to elementary, middle and high school students at-risk of dropping out of school. CISSA offers 300 hour, 450 hour and 675 hour opportunities during the full school year (August - May) or by semester (Fall / Spring). Placed directly in one or more high need public school under the supervision of an experienced CIS Site Coordinator, AmeriCorps members connect children and their families to community-based resources, tailored to each student’s specific needs. Members will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that will be valued by future employers in the behavioral health field while making a real difference in students’ lives. AmeriCorps members between the ages of 18 – 24 are eligible for the Youth Mental Health Corps grant and gain access to additional support services, youth mental health training, career exploration, and peer networking opportunities.
