OWL AmeriCorps members (ACM) will serve at public health sites, after completing CDC trainings and AmeriCorps orientation. Members will serve as Community Health Workers and will be developed as public health leaders who are ready to respond to the current public health needs in Central Georgia. ACMs will cater their service experience to ensure there is a special emphasis areas that have historically not had access to public health in the Central Georgia footprint of Bibb, Baldwin, Hancock, Houston, Jones, and Peach counties. All ACMs receive a modest, monthly living allowance. Full-time ACMs are eligible for free health insurance and can apply for childcare assistance. ACMs expected to complete all required trainings and attend local program activities and events.

Member Duties : OWL Public Health AmeriCorps Members (ACM) will serve 40 hours a week during the 10-month service term. AmeriCorps members will provide community health outreach and support as well as recruit, train, and develop a new generation of public health leaders who are ready to respond to the health needs, with special emphasis on those who have historically not had access to public health in the Central Georgia footprint of Bibb, Baldwin, Hancock, Houston, Jones, and Peach counties. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: data entry, volunteer recruitment, community outreach, teaching life skills, support new public health initiatives, participate in professional development trainings, participate in Esprit de Corps, attend community events, etc.
