Capacity & Stewardship Coord - Willowell Foundation/VHCB
 
 
 
The goal of the Capacity and Stewardship Coordinator is to enhance delivery of programming focused on environmental education and land stewardship. Increase our impact through recruiting and monitoring volunteer efforts. Service will focus on improving our volunteer recognition practices and ways of tracking volunteer activity. They will also research past programs at our site with an eye towards evidence-based programming that impacts environmental stewardship and youth mental health outcomes. The member will collaborate with staff and board of directors to organize annual benefits (non- federal), help secure non-federal donations for scholarships for member-led programs, and research and write non-federal grants for member-led activities. The Willowell Foundation connects people to the arts, education, the environment, and each other through land-based programs. Our programs include the Walden Project, a nationally-recognized outdoor public high school; summer camps; artist residencies; Wren’s Nest Forest Preschool; after school programs; the Monkton Wood Bank; wildlife monitoring; community gardening; farm-to-school; and wetland conservation. We serve local students, teachers and community members in these environmental education initiatives. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. Position is Full Time: Requires 1720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 46 weeks. Member receives a living allowance of $30,500 (pre-tax) for the service term. Member receives an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax).

Member Duties : ·Develop and deliver environmental education curriculum to youth ·Support environmental education programs at locations such as Pond Brook Middle School, The Walden Year, and summer camps hosted at site. ·Conduct research and survey program participants (parents, volunteers) to assess effectiveness and impact of environmental education programs ·Mentor and tutor youth-In-School or Out-of-School Life Supports & Skills for workforce development ·Assist staff with non-federal, program-specific fundraising efforts (limited to 10% of total service hours) ·Recruit and manage volunteers; document and track volunteer activities in host site systems; develop and implement volunteer recognition -Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps -Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives. -Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities.
