PAARI Menomonie Police Department

The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) was founded alongside the Gloucester Police Department Angel Initiative in June 2015 and has grown into a movement of approximately 700 law enforcement partners in 34 states, all implementing a non arrest pathway to treatment and access. VISTAs will help build, strengthen, and sustain police-led programs to reduce and prevent overdose deaths and help more people with opioid use disorder get into treatment and recovery. The Menomonie Police Department is seeking an individual to support the efforts of Project Hope within the City of Menomonie and Dunn County, WI. The position will be embedded, but will be responsible for efforts being conducted county wide. The VISTA will coordinate with the Police and Sheriff’s Behavioral Health Officers as they connect individuals struggling in the community with services and resources. The AmeriCorps VISTA will observe initial outreach and ongoing follow-ups with individuals to identify any gaps in services and treatments, initiate referrals to community services and resources by creating community trust and creating a community resource guide for easier access and references along with developing and engaging in public outreach and educational efforts, and assist with data collection and data entry. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. The ideal candidate will be someone who has lived experience with addiction and are in recovery, has a passion for helping others, and can work in a team environment. Individuals who have received peer support training are preferred. *If interested in starting before the start date please let us know* During your service, you will receive a living allowance from CNCS and at the conclusion of a successful service year you will be eligible for an education award of $6,495 or a cash stipend of $1,800
