2024 MENTOR MD|DC -Rural & Suburban Outreach
 
 
 
MENTOR Maryland | DC serves as the catalyst and leader for quality mentoring in Baltimore and in Maryland and are uniquely positioned to work with local organizations to increase their capacity, effectiveness and provide relevant and customized evidence-based training, technical assistance and support. We are intent on making progress towards closing the mentoring gap and ensuring that all mentoring relationships in Baltimore and throughout Maryland are safe and effective. The goal of the Rural & Suburban Outreach VISTA is to increase the overall levels of engagement of mentoring programs and school districts in Maryland’s most rural and suburban counties, to ensure awareness and utilization of the variety of supports that MENTOR MD|DC offers. Increasing participation in the Mentoring Connector, increased technical assistance participation, active and regionally meaningful roundtables, engagement in relationship centered schools consultation, and participation in our professional development calendar.

Member Duties : The VISTA will establish regular program info sessions to act as first step in recruitment process. Increase participation in the Mentoring Connector Database. Creating outreach and communications campaigns targeting programs, school districts, politicians, and other mentoring stakeholders in rural and suburban areas. Facilitate trainings and info sessions to familiarize programs with MENTOR MD|DC offerings . Utilize social media to initiate contact with mentoring programs. Building rapport with and leveraging Maryland MENTOR Quality Program Partners to recruit other programs into the initiative. VISTA will collaborate with other AmeriCorps members to bring opportunities to rural and suburban areas.
