Planting Resilience

TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit whose mission is to engage, inspire and support people to take personal responsibility for the environment, making it safe, healthy, fun and sustainable, and to share the process as a model for the world. TreePeople is among the largest independent environmental organizations in California. Sustained by a staff of educators, organizers and foresters as well as thousands of trained volunteers, TreePeople plays a leading role in mobilizing communities to work together to achieve climate resilience. Over the past four decades, TreePeople has engaged more than 3 million people in planting and caring for more than 3 million trees. AmeriCorps members who join TreePeople will have opportunities to support urban tree planting and care projects throughout Los Angeles County as well as wildfire prevention and forestry restoration projects in the Angeles National Forest and the Santa Monica Mountains. In addition, AmeriCorps members will have robust opportunities to learn about Los Angeles ecology, plant identification, and best practices in environmental field work.
