Housing Stability and Community Engagement VISTA

This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team at Neighborhood House. Neighborhood House is a nonprofit organization that helps people thrive through access to education, health, housing, and basic needs services. Neighborhood House serves individuals in the Portland metro area with a focus on communities experiencing poverty and barriers to opportunity. Neighborhood House is expanding affordable housing efforts to increase housing stability and improve health outcomes for low-income individuals and families. Stable housing is a critical foundation for economic mobility, physical and mental health, educational success, and overall well-being. Through affordable housing development and resident support services, we help community members access safe, stable housing and connect with resources that promote long-term success. This member will help build the systems, partnerships, and engagement strategies needed to support affordable housing residents and strengthen housing stability. By increasing organizational capacity and strengthening resident engagement systems, this project will help Neighborhood House better address the root causes of poverty and housing instability. Portland offers an exceptional quality of life, with easy access to parks, rivers, hiking trails, the Oregon Coast, and the Cascade Mountains. The city is known for its vibrant neighborhoods, local food scene, arts and culture, and commitment to community engagement and social impact. In addition to activities at your individual host site, OHA provides members with project orientation, training and professional development, 5 in-person team meetings per year, and support from VISTA team leaders and project director. Visit https://nhpdx.org to learn more about Neighborhood House. Visit: healthoregon.org/vista for more details about the OHA VISTA project. Position offers are made on a rolling basis; early applications are strongly encouraged.
