2024 Habitat Fund Development VISTA - La Crosse

The goal of the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA Program is to build a better Wisconsin by assisting local organizations increase capacity and sustainability for programs focused on alleviating poverty, while developing new leadership to help strengthen Wisconsin’s communities and move them “forward.” With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Located along the Mississippi River in the Driftless Region, HFH La Crosse serves La Crosse, Vernon, and Trempealeau counties in western Wisconsin, and Houston County in Minnesota. HFH La Crosse celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2022. Since it began, HFH La Crosse has built 55 homes. The organization has also helped almost one thousand community members through neighborhood revitalization projects and helped hundreds of homeowners make needed repairs to their homes. Additionally, the Habitat ReStore has diverted nearly eight million pounds from the landfill since opening in 2006. After 30 years, Habitat remains committed to the belief that many stereotypes will be dispelled as people of different economic, ethnic, or religious backgrounds work together, because we all share a common humanity, with similar frailties, strengths, and aspirations.
