Nevada Community Navigator VISTA

Nevada Volunteers is a non-profit based in Sparks/Reno Nevada; led by a body of Commissioners appointed by the Governor of Nevada, tasked to build an ethic of service and make positive and lasting social and economic impact across the state. Nevada Volunteers is among a national network of Governors Commissions on Service and receives funding from AmeriCorps, the State of Nevada, and philanthropic donations to empower all Nevadans to improve their communities through national service and volunteerism. Nevada Volunteers trains and supports nonprofit organizations to strengthen a robust volunteer workforce to meet critical needs in education, environmental restoration, healthy futures, and economic opportunities. The Nevada Volunteers VISTA project will break the cycle of poverty by building capacity in Nevada counties where there is documented community need, access barriers, and limited utilization of federal funding with a focus on Native American Tribes, nonprofit/community organizations, and low-income counties. Three VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as establishing positive relationships, building trust, implementing needs assessments, developing and disseminating tools and resources, and connecting communities and organizations to beneficial partnerships and AmeriCorps streams of service. Nevada Volunteers VISTA members will gain invaluable work experience as community navigators and will travel around the state. Members will have multiple opportunities to attend professional development training and expand their professional network. Come experience the beauty and freedom the Reno/Tahoe area has to offer! For information on all VISTA member benefits please visit https://americorps.gov/members-volunteers/vista/benefits or feel free to reach out to Nevada Volunteers VISTA Supervisor Ty McCoy at ty@nevadavolunteers.org with any questions.
