Acceptance Recovery Center VISTA 2023

This AmeriCorps VISTA member, part of a network of VISTAs through the University of Georgia (UGA) Office of Service-Learning, will build capacity with the Acceptance Recovery Center (ARC) and community partners in Athens, Georgia. ARC programs (outlined here: https://arc-ga.org/) reach individuals, agencies, and clients across a 12-county area in Northeast, GA to lead those displaced by addiction through care, education and support into long-term recovery. ARC serves men, women, transgender and non-binary people in a long-term residential community who have a primary need for recovery from a substance use disorder and experienced displacement from their homes, including those who have become entangled in the criminal justice system due to barriers to mental wellness and recovery support services. The member will grow the organization's capacity by completing efficacy studies, recruiting volunteers, grant writing/reporting, social media, newsletter, evaluations of impacts, resident satisfaction surveys, fundraising, and community engagement to support shedding light on addiction recovery to end the stigma.
