2023-2024 Community Engagement VISTA, The Neighbor Project

The Neighbor Project (TNP) is a HUD approved housing counseling agency. We’re empowering our neighbors to prosper, so our neighborhoods can thrive. TNP was born from two separate partner organizations, Joseph Corporation and Emmanuel House. Out of a desire to maximize their efforts in Aurora, Joseph Corporation and Emmanuel House merged in 2018 to become The Neighbor Project. These two organizations have proud histories of serving Aurora for over 30 years, a legacy we commit to continuing. At this time, TNP is in the process of scaling its services. TNP has always focused on the impact they've had on individuals. Now, TNP is shifting its focus to the impact they have on a community as a whole. During the next 12 months, the VISTA member will assist TNP's Outreach Coordinator and Chief of Equity & Operations to: - survey & analyze survey results of 2 Aurora neighborhoods - revaluate & revamp their outreach, marketing, & engagement strategy based on the survey analysis - engage community members to develop a team of resident leaders (potentially from both East & West Aurora) to help identify neighborhood projects and attend the NeighborWorks America Community Leadership Institute (CLI) in the fall of 2024 - develop outcomes, goals, and data needed to identify the community impact - continuously monitor achieved outcomes and make strategic pivots when necessary The ideal VISTA candidate is someone who: - Can gather accurate information & data - Is familiar with client/data privacy - Has strong research skills - Has strong interpersonal skills - Is experienced with data analysis and creating graphs & tables - Is familiar with Word, Excel, PPT, & Teams - Has experience working with Salesforce - Strong communication skills - Work independently or with minimal supervision For more information, contact Curtis Spivey at curtis@neighborproject.us or at (630) 405-9181
