Mentor Engagement VISTA

Step Up is in the midst of its five-year strategic plan (2021-2025), focused on strengthening and expanding its programs through a blended mentorship model of virtual, in-person, and independent learning methodologies. The Step Up VISTA Initiative supports this work by engaging a diverse network of corporate and community partners, designing and implementing programs for teens and young adults equipping them with the tools, networks, and resources to be successful, and engaging women as members who contribute financially to our mission and serve as mentors At Step Up, we believe girls deserve to define and pursue success on their terms. By bringing girls together in inspired spaces – on and offline – we spark exploration and discussion of what’s possible. Then, with structured support and access to a strong community, we empower girls to identify their unique goals and build a roadmap to get there. Whether there is college, an internship, a network, or simply confidence – Step Up is there for it and there for them. With free programs beginning in high school and continuing throughout young adulthood, Step Up provides the developmental experiences and relationships needed to overcome gender and racial inequities, close the opportunity gap, create meaningful change in their lives, and ultimately succeed in the 21st century. As an organization committed to accelerating the personal and professional development of girls facing systemic barriers, we leverage trained volunteers to drive equity through high-quality and transformational mentoring relationships with women who share their backgrounds and experiences. Every day we strive to amplify a woman’s impact on the girls and communities they serve. During the 2021-2022 school year, 97% of Step Up girls reported experiencing Step Up as a safe space and 85% of Step Up teens reported feeling more prepared for the workforce.
