El Futuro Community Engagement Programs Specialist
 
 
 
El Futuro is North Carolina’s leading provider of bilingual & culturally-responsive mental health services for the Latino community. Our mission is to nurture stronger familias to live out their dreams. We are based in Durham NC, a vibrant, diverse city and part of NC’s Research Triangle region. The AmeriCorps VISTA Community Engagement Programs Specialist will build the capacity of our Community Engagement Programs by promoting community partnerships, education, and awareness around Mental Health for immigrant Latino individuals and families. Their work will increase community knowledge/awareness of Latino mental health, reduce stigma, increase access to mental health care, and support overall community wellness. Specific activities include, but are not limited to: -Conduct community outreach & education to lessen the stigma around mental health & promote wellbeing; -Facilitate community listening sessions; -Develop presentations, flyers, & other outreach materials to strengthen community outreach & awareness of Latino Mental Health based on community needs/wants; -Develop partnership & collaborations; -Plan, coordinate & attend community engagement events such as health fairs, schools, church, & other events; -Evaluate & document impact of community engagement events on mental health/wellness of participants. Qualifications: -Demonstrated experience working with the Latino community -Bilingual in English/Spanish, written and spoken required -Excellent communication, organizational & time-management skills -Flexibility, creativity & a spirit of collaboration to address developing programmatic needs -Computer skills with ability to use Google suite products -Preferred: data collection (e.g. Monday.com), web conferencing skills (e.g. Zoom), digital design (e.g. Canva) This position is a full-time, year-long volunteer service opportunity. Member Duties : The El Futuro Community Engagement Programs Specialist will build community mental health awareness & engagement, strengthen & expand community partnerships, and develop community outreach opportunities & programming to meet program goals. Activities include but are not limited to: -Facilitate community listening sessions, surveys, & focus groups -Conduct community outreach & education to lessen the stigma around mental health & promote wellbeing -Plan, coordinate & attend community engagement events such as health fairs, schools, church, & other events to provide information about El Futuro -Develop presentations, flyers, & other outreach materials to strengthen community outreach & awareness of Latino Mental Health based on community needs/wants -Document community needs -Participate in Mental Health trainings -Develop partnerships & collaborations -Participate in program evaluation by sharing data collected & lessons learned around best ways to engage the community.
