El Futuro Community Engagement Programs Specialist
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA Community Engagement Programs Specialist will build the capacity of our Community Engagement Programs by promoting community partnerships, education, and awareness around Mental Health and Substance Use for immigrant Latino individuals and families. Their work will increase community knowledge/awareness of Latino mental health, reduce stigma, increase access to mental health care, and support overall community wellness. Specific activities include, but are not limited to: Conducting community outreach & education to lessen the stigma around mental health and substance use & promote well-being; Facilitating community listening sessions; Developing presentations, flyers, & other outreach materials to strengthen community outreach & awareness of Latino Mental Health and substance use based on community needs/wants; Developing partnerships & collaborations; Planning, coordinating & attending community engagement events such as health fairs, schools, churches, etc; Evaluating & documenting the impact of community engagement events on mental health/wellness of participants. Qualifications: Interest in working with the Latino community, Bilingual in English/Spanish, written and spoken required, Good communication skills, organizational & time-management skills, Flexibility, creativity & a spirit of collaboration to address developing programmatic needs, Computer skills with ability to use email, Microsoft Office, curiosity to continue learning. Member Duties : The El Futuro Community Engagement Programs Specialist will build community mental health and substance use awareness & engage, strengthen & expand community partnerships; coordinate community outreach opportunities & programming. Activities include but are not limited to: Facilitate opportunities for community feedback: surveys, & focus groups, Conduct community outreach & education to lessen the stigma around mental health and substance use & promote wellbeing; Plan, coordinate & attend community engagement events such as health fairs and other events to provide information about El Futuro services and events, Develop outreach materials to strengthen community outreach & awareness of Latino Mental Health and Substance Use based on community needs, Document activities and impact, Participate in Mental Health trainings, help to develop partnerships & collaborations, Participate in program evaluation by sharing data collected & lessons learned around best ways to engage the community.
