Wake Forest Community Table Food Security Specialist

The mission of Wake Forest Community Table is to connect members of the community to the essential resources of food, education and personal care items and to each other through community gatherings. We seek to transform the systems that necessitate the services the organization provides. The VISTA member will work collaboratively with the Board and leadership/advisory teams to build the infrastructure needed to increase funding, grants, volunteer base, community recognition, connection to the community and to other partners and donors. The primary goal of the VISTA member’s one year assignment will be to build the capacity of this new 501(C)3 that has grown out of a longstanding ministry of a faith-based organization (St. John's Episcopal Church). The VISTA member will build capacity by creating systems and procedures independent of the Church so that it can broaden its volunteer base, connect with and support community partners and gardens more efficiently and increase the number of meals and produce bags that are served each week. The VISTA Member will design and partner with community members to educate our community about the systems, history and institutions that have caused that need for our food program.
