NYC Veterans Support VISTA Member
 
 
 
The NYC VISTA Member will manage the DVS/NYC Cares Mission: VetCheck program. The program that connects veterans to fellow New Yorkers through supportive check in calls. The VISTA Member will manage a robust volunteer efforts where trained volunteers provide information on essential public services and other resources to veterans. The VISTA Member will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner of Outreach and work with Outreach Executive Program Specialist to help develop, implement, plan, and cultivate projects specific to engaging New York City's veteran community. This VISTA position is a part of the NYC VISTA program, a group of 25+ VISTA members serving in New York City Government agencies supporting their anti-poverty work. The NYC VISTA program is administered by NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor. This position is supervised directly by a city agency staff member and will be a part of the larger NYC VISTA community. Member Duties : The member will conduct surveys to collect information about the needs and opinions of veterans and volunteers participating in the program; coordinate data collection efforts with partners to review program data; develop and implement processes to collect feedback, concerns, needs from veterans and volunteers; develop and cultivate organizational relationships and engage with veterans’ organizations, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative efforts to support special projects and community events for DVS at the direction of leadership; provide capacity building support around the planning and coordination of DVS’ Memorial Day and Veterans Day events; support the Management and Executive Leadership teams with training, events, and outreach activities pertaining to the veteran population, military families and caregivers.
