NYC Service VISTA Leader

NYC Service administers the NYC VISTA program with a group of VISTAs serving in NYC Government agencies supporting anti-poverty work through capacity-building initiatives. NYC Service promotes volunteerism, engages New Yorkers in service, builds volunteer capacity, and mobilizes the power of volunteers and service year members to impact New York City’s greatest needs. Currently, NYC Service administers four AmeriCorps Programs: 3 AmeriCorps State and National programs and 1 AmeriCorps NYC VISTA program. In the 2015 inaugural year, the NYC VISTA Program started with 9 VISTA members and 1 VISTA Leader. Our members have served in various city agencies with varied focuses: Homelessness, Veterans, Immigrants, Housing and Homelessness, and Children’s Services. The 2023-2024 VISTA Leader will work with NYC Service to support 19 VISTA members in their efforts to help lift New Yorkers out of poverty by using their previous experience(s) as an AmeriCorps Member or Peace Corps Volunteer. The VISTA Leader will report to a city agency staff and be part of the larger NYC VISTA community. Member Duties : Training and Enrichment: Support Member On-Site Orientation and Training; Support in creating meaningful training and enrichment opportunities for VISTAs; and Plan and coordinate service activity to increase retention and member experience Site Visits: Coordinate host site visits; and Systematize site visit database to effectively track site visit outcomes Reporting: Consolidate, interpret, and report on submitted data; Resolve data discrepancies for progress report development; and Create a timeline to consolidate and analyze submitted data Recruitment: Support member and host site recruitment plan; Screen and interview potential candidates; Review VADs and Service Opportunity Listing and provide guidance for improvement Program Sustainability: Work with VISTA Members to develop their sustainability manual; and Revise, create, and update existing manuals and handbooks to incorporate programmatic changes and/or additions for the 2023-2024 VISTA Service Term
