PHENND Fellows - Teach Plus Communications Fellow

Teach Plus Pennsylvania empowers excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that advance equity, opportunity, and student success. In pursuing our mission, Teach Plus is guided by our Student Opportunity Mandate: All students should have the opportunity to achieve their potential in an education system defined by its commitment to equity, its responsiveness to individual needs, and its ability to prepare students for postsecondary success. In Philadelphia, we support teachers who lead grade-level teams to improve instruction and outcomes for students, and we are launching a new project of teacher-led affinity spaces for teachers of color. Across the state, we train teachers to become education policy advocates in areas including equitable school funding, early childhood education, and expanding and diversifying the teacher pipeline. Teach Plus PA got its start in Philadelphia in 2017 with a partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and now also operates a statewide teaching policy fellowship and teacher network as well as three other teacher leadership programs in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Our Pennsylvania team has six members, and we are part of a larger national non-profit.
