IDHRC Disaster Response Communication Specialist VISTA

Tornados. Floods. Ice. Windstorms. It takes a whole community approach to build disaster resiliency. Join the Iowa Disaster Human Resource Council (IDHRC) in building capacity to coordinate, collaboration, cooperate and communicate together before, during, and after disasters in Iowa. This position will support key capacity building strategies alongside the IDHRC leadership and council membership. Capacity building areas will lead the IDHRC toward long-term sustainability. Project areas include: Enhancing membership engagement, Developing fundraising strategies, Addressing key community and statewide needs, gaps, and resources. This position is up to full-time teleservice. Candidate must live in Iowa. Some travel expected. Position open until filled.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps VISTA IDHRC Disaster Response Communication Specialist will: Build partnerships with organizations across the state to enhance disaster collaboration, Be a leader in bringing diversity, equity, and inclusion into key organizational conversations and communication pieces, Develop professional grant writing skills, Attend a combination of professional and disaster-related training and educational opportunities, Engage in training development from conceptional planning to implementation, Collaborate with committees and task forces to support communication, education, training, and information sharing
