Boston Workforce Development- Data & Evaluation VISTA
 
 
 
To help connect low-income Boston residents to job skills training, post-secondary education, and financial resources that facilitate economic opportunities and financial stability, The Data Systems & Evaluation VISTA member will increase the overall evaluative capacity of OWD’s new and developing programs. This role will focus on refining existing and creating new data collection tools and processes, improving qualitative and quantitative data collection practices and data quality, assisting with tracking participants’ progress throughout program and post program completion, including creating feedback loops that will facilitate a cycle of community input and responsive program improvement. The VISTA will provide evaluation support for key programs including Boston Saves, City Academy, and Tuition Free Community College. The VISTAs responsibilities will collaborate with program staff and key partners to gain an understanding of day-to-day operations, mission, goals, outputs and other metrics for Boston Saves, Tuition Free Community College, and City Academy to inform assessment of systems that support evaluation and program improvement. Become familiar with and assess existing data collection tools and systems, data needed for process and outcome evaluations. Research relevant best practices in data collection and management used by other comparable programs or programs with comparable features. Assess technology used for existing data collection practices and, if necessary, research alternative no-cost or low-cost systems for data collection and storage, as well as output and outcome tracking and reporting. This role is an excellent fit for someone interested in learning more about program design, evaluation and data management in public agencies. This position includes a living stipend of $33,189.52, a free MBTA pass, $1500 for PD, and $50/month grocery gift card.

Member Duties : The Data and Evaluation VISTA will provide support for several key programs at OWD. City Academy is an innovative initiative to improve pathways into City of Boston jobs for local residents through recruitment and training. Boston Saves is a children's savings account administered in partnership with the Boston Public Schools - the program supports students and their families who want to save for college beginning in kindergarten. The Tuition Free Community College initiative provides last-dollar funding so eligible Boston residents can attend one of six partner colleges free of tuition and fees. The VISTA will improve data collection practices across all three programs and have a chance to work closely with City agencies and local community partners.
