NAMI South Central Iowa Volunteer Recruitment VISTA SUMMER

It has been difficult to reach our 11 southern Iowa counties with the extensive virtual programming that we now have since Covid. In-person presentations in these communities will augment all of our social media and online efforts to reach all those persons and families who are impacted by mental illness in rural southern Iowa. Our Vista Volunteers will partner with existing agencies and organizations to seek out more volunteers in these communities, and encourage them to take our training programs to facilitate support groups, speak in all regional schools, and share their lived experience with those who are struggling. This will be accomplished by community presentations, booths at fairs, round table conversations, etc. This position required candidate to live in or around the Centerville, IA area. Position open until filled.

Member Duties : The ideal VISTA candidate will meet community members, learn about their specific needs, and share with them the programs and services NAMI can provide, encouraging them to become part of the NAMI family and bring help and support to those in their community.
