2023-2024 Eviction Prevention Service Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
This Eviction Prevention Service Coordinator will be hosted by Northern Illinois ReACH (Winnebago County Housing Authority) located in Rockford, IL . Winnebago County Housing Authority is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website. The mission of Northern Illinois Regional Affordable Community Housing (NIReACH) is to provide affordable housing that is safe and stable. We offer two different supportive programs to our residents; Family Self-Sufficiency Program and Residents Opportunity Support Services. The Eviction Prevention Service Coordinator will work to improve data tracking systems, update materials, and engage residents and community partners in the process to prevent evictions. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and has excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. They must be detail-oriented, comfortable using computers and Microsoft programs, and responsible with handling critical and sensitive data. Finally, some housing issues may require creative thinking to come up with viable solutions, so we are seeking someone with an asset-based mindset and the ability to think outside-the-box.

Member Duties : The Eviction Prevention Service Coordinator will create and lead projects to collaborate with 15 nonprofit partners in support of the housing retention program. They will help create much needed workshops and will facilitate in rebuilding the relationships between vulnerable residents and building managers. They will develop Financial Literacy, Behavioral Health and housekeeping programming along with building capacity in our Public Housing communities.
