2023-2024 Outreach and Fundraising VISTA
 
 
 
The Fundraising and Outreach VISTA will be hosted by HOPE Fair Housing Center located in Wheaton, IL. HOPE Fair Housing Center is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website: housingactionil.org/americorps. HOPE Fair Housing Center is the oldest and largest fair housing center in the state of Illinois. Founded in 1968, HOPE works to create housing opportunities for all and end housing discrimination. HOPE accomplishes this goal through education, outreach, enforcement, training, and advocacy. The Fundraising and Outreach VISTA will develop strategic relationships with prospective donors and corporate leaders throughout the state in support of HOPE’s annual conference. Additionally, the VISTA will oversee the implementation of HOPE’s donor relations management system to track these key partnerships. They will also work with staff to develop a Language Guide in order to ensure HOPE is consistently using the most informed and respectful language when conducting its fair housing enforcement and educational advocacy. This VISTA will collaborate closest with their supervisor, HOPE’s Director of Outreach, Events and Fundraising The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for civil rights and housing justice, along with an interest in learning about fair housing. Prior experience with project management or development is beneficial. Experience with donor and or customer relations management experience is beneficial. Experience speaking in another language, such as Spanish, is also strongly preferred.

Member Duties : The Fundraising & Outreach VISTA will play a critical role in capacity building at HOPE. The VISTA will work with HOPE’s Director of Outreach, Events, and Fundraising, the Executive Director, Board and staff to expand and develop outreach and fundraising tools. They will play a role in supporting HOPE’s annual conference by working with the outreach team to increase attendance. They will develop a Language Guide which the organization will use to standardize all communications and marketing work, as well as some legal filings. This will standardize the language used to articulate complex issues in fair housing that impact diverse populations. The VISTA will support the development of consistent HOPE branding and messaging across all HOPE external communications platforms for donor recruitment purposes. Moreover, the VISTA will work collaboratively with staff to populate HOPE’s donor relationships management system and maintain a current, up-to-date record of contacts made.
