2023-2024 Economic Learning VISTA

The Economic Learning VISTA will be hosted by Working In Neighborhoods (WIN) located in Cincinnati, Ohio. WIN is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. The Economic Learning VISTA is part of the Housing Counseling Corps and will receive customized training, support, guidance, networking, and post-service employment opportunities in the housing counseling field. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website: housingactionil.org/americorps. Working In Neighborhoods (WIN) was founded in 1978 with a mission “to empower people to make informed choices for themselves and their neighborhoods through community building, home ownership, and economic learning.” WIN prepares families to purchase their first home by offering homebuyer training classes and individual counseling. WIN offers ongoing financial education. WIN also works directly with families to save homes from foreclosure, protecting families’ investments and helping maintain neighborhood stability. The Economic Learning VISTA will conduct outreach to residents in targeted neighborhoods, community groups, and other organizations to increase awareness and expand WIN’s customer base. Additionally, they will work on streamlining WIN’s intake process to help remove barriers to service. While at WIN, the VISTA will gain an understanding of housing counseling and train to complete the HUD certification exam for housing counselors. The ideal candidate will be outgoing and detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and work well as a part of a team.
