Associate, VISTA-Horizons Student Enrichment Program HN-E
 
 
 
Horizons National (HN) advances educational equity through a network of robust academic and enrichment programs built on long-term partnerships with families and communities to inspire the joy of learning in K-12 students. Our network of 74 affiliates across 20 states serves students and families most impacted by systemic educational inequities. Each affiliate (typically on the campus of an independent school, college, or university) offers tuition-free academic enrichment starting in kindergarten and continuing through 8th grade or high school. In 2022, we served over 6740 students across our network, and we seek to grow our network to reach more students, families, and communities. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, and the individual will work with the expansion team of HN for a full year of service. The AmeriCorps VISTA will primarily focus on program growth in Connecticut, prioritizing the New Haven area but also focusing on other cities in the state as needed. This is an opportunity for motivated, committed, and collaborative individuals who are passionate about making a difference and receiving beyond entry-level responsibilities. Because of this, the candidate should have a demonstrated interest in volunteer and community service as well as the desire to take on responsibilities that will challenge themselves and make an impact on the community. The AmeriCorps VISTA will have ample opportunities for professional development and networking throughout the year. The AmeriCorps VISTA will be reimbursed for all work-related expenses and travel, and will have access to all technology required to accomplish the goals of this year of service.

Member Duties : Working with the Executive VP of Horizons National as a member of HN’s expansion team, the AmeriCorps VISTA will: Explore growth, partnership, and funding opportunities with school districts and community-based organizations in New Haven and other key communities in CT. Support Horizons affiliate partnerships in the development of a regional growth strategy in New Haven. Assist in securing resources to expand Horizons’ capacity to serve more students, including grant writing, reporting, and presentations. Help the Horizons at Albertus Magnus College Site Director strengthen connections with families, the college, and the school district by supporting student recruitment, campus partnerships, and family engagement. Help maintain student and family records and assist with end-of-summer reporting for Horizons at Albertus Magnus College. Participate in department and organization-wide meetings, retreats, professional development, and the Horizons National Conference.
