MN Housing Partnership Narrative Change Tenant Organizer
 
 
 
MHP is leading a statewide project to develop and disseminate a housing narrative that moves people to action and commitment. The Narrative Change VISTA tenant organizer will support tenant capacity and leadership through storytelling, and support sharing housing stories through multiple mediums and approaches. This position will facilitate and support virtual and in-person dialogues about housing challenges, the Minnesota housing system, and housing solutions and successes. The position will also work with tenant organizers in partner organizers, supporting canvassing, organizing, and housing events. The Narrative Change VISTA tenant organizer will cultivate skills and approaches to support storytelling and capture stories at housing events. In-person activities such as canvassing and event support may take place in Minneapolis, St Paul, and the western suburbs. Minnesota Housing Partnership is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit that advocates for equitable housing policy, produces data-informed research to inform solutions, and delivers community development services across the US. MHP’s efforts are rooted in the tent that everyone should have a safe, stable place to call home. MHP’s physical offices are located at 2446 University Ave W, Ste 106, St Paul, MN 55114. MHP is a fully remote workplace, although staff have the option of working at MHP’s physical office.

Member Duties : Examples of member duties are: Develop relationships with current tenant organizers, and communities and leaders within tenant spaces, including participation in canvassing, organizing, and event support related to housing needs and affordable housing. Identify individuals to establish a cohort for “Tell Me Your Housing Story” by conducting outreach to identify and establish narrative change designers and leaders, including current organizational partners, leaders within the tenant community, VISTA organizers, and others. Develop a process, templates and training materials, for hosting a conversation with renters about storytelling and for capturing stories. Develop a template for capacity building training for tenants, leading to impactful and enhanced storytelling that builds tenant power and publicly highlights the needs and concerns of renters. Develop skills in capturing and editing stories, including through written, audio and video media.
