2024 San Antonio Promise Zone Community Engagement VISTA
 
 
 
The goal of this effort is to ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunity, and that the place you are born does not determine your destiny. The Eastside Promise Zone serves the community through its focus on the following goals: job creation and training; increased economic activity; improve educational opportunities and increase family stability; leverage private investment; reduce serious and violent crime; reduce poverty; and increase the supply of affordable housing; and promote health and wellness. VISTA will conduct activities to further community participation and development in the 22 sq. mile Promise Zone and the surrounding East San Antonio Community.

Member Duties : Coordinate, create and plan community projects that engage eastside residents and stakeholders such as community input forums, fundraisers, town hall meetings, community block parties, job fairs and resource fairs. Recruit community members and leaders to volunteer time, expertise and resources in City of San Antonio, SAGE, and Eastside Promise Zone partner organization initiatives. Ensure that community needs are authentically represented in revitalization plans and studies that impact the Eastside community. Example studies and plans include, but are not limited to: Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Corridor Revitalization Study, the implementation of the San Antonio Promise Zone Sustainability Plan, the finalization and implementation of the San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside Strategic Plan. Responsible for developing strategies to engage citizens, stakeholders and partners in focus groups and input sessions.
