Kenmore Neighborhood Alliance 2023 Summer Associate

Kenmore Neighborhood Alliance works to revitalize the Kenmore neighborhood in Akron, OH, starting with its economic, cultural and relational core, the Kenmore Boulevard Historic District. As KNA’s summer associate, you will engage residents and organizations in the community through and by recruiting volunteers and creating a system of volunteer management for district events and cleanups. You will also help to promoting district businesses through new informational kiosks and music-centric street festivals called Kenmore First Fridays. Kenmore First Fridays are monthly cultural events aimed at rebuilding economic and relational connectivity in what is fast becoming known as Akron’s Music Row, home to six recording studios, two guitar shops, a live music venue and multiple unique hobby shops. In this grassroots position, you will utilize your street-level promotion and project planning skills to grow attendance at each event. You will use your people skills on the ground, engaging with KNA staff, volunteers and the public to create a safe, clean and fun atmosphere. You will also help KNA to expand and energize our Clean Team and Kenmore First Friday volunteer bases. You will connect with residents and community organizations to increase the number of people engaging in their own community and you will create and maintain a system for doing so going forward. You will work together with both Clean Team and Kenmore First Friday volunteers onsite to ensure a good, functional system and see the fruit of your labors on the streets you serve.
