SUM Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program-HA

Horizons Atlanta provides high-quality, tuition-free summer enrichment programs in partnership with ten host institutions, offering over 1,500 student seats in 2023. Our scholars attend a 6-week, full-day summer program on the campuses of independent schools, colleges, and universities across metro Atlanta. In small classes led by professional teachers, our students dive into rich curricula focused on literacy and STE(A)M. Swimming and other confidence-boosting activities break down barriers to success, expose children to new opportunities, and promote healthy youth development. On average, Horizons scholars achieve 2-3 months academic growth in reading and math and return to school in the fall prepared and confident. AmeriCorps VISTA members will receive direct, hands-on experience supporting a broad range of youth enrichment and development activities, as well as observe multiple programs across Horizons Atlanta’s unique regional network model in action. Members will also engage directly with all levels of program stakeholders and offer ways to strengthen program activities. Members will also participate in and support the launch of our eleventh program site in summer 2023! AmeriCorps VISTA members will be assigned to work directly with the Site Director at one of our program sites during their 6-week programs (mid to late July, depending on the site), after which the individual will support either the Horizons Atlanta Executive Director, Development Director, and/or Regional Program Director at our regional office at Georgia Tech for the remainder of his/her term.
