Associate, VISTA Horizons Leader Student Enrichment Program

Located in Westport, CT, Horizons National (HN) serves more than 70 affiliate sites across 20 states. Each affiliate site (typically on the campus of an independent school, college, or university) serves students from under-resourced communities, through tuition-free academic enrichment starting in kindergarten and going through high school. Your service will help us expand and develop our organizational and programmatic capacity. You will work directly with HN staff to assist and empower our affiliates to best serve children. This is a teleservice opportunity with some paid travel. VISTA member still needs to live within the commuting area of the geographic community of the assigned sponsor or site. You will have the opportunity to help lead the national VISTA project at Horizons, supporting and managing a projected 12 other full-time VISTAs and 20 Summer Associates that are placed at our affiliates across the country. The position offers an exciting opportunity to gain rich experience and responsibility, while also providing the ability to network and connect in a unique way that will enhance your service. Ideal candidates will possess the desire and proficiency to help create and deliver sustainable, high-impact professional development and training opportunities for our VISTA members. Training will address competencies required to perform the assigned VISTA role, as well as valuable skills related to future professional pursuits. Our AmeriCorps project is a cohort-based experience that creates the opportunity to learn from peers in the program, to share best practices, and to foster a supportive service year community. Applicants MUST have previous Federal service experience, such as, a full-year of AmeriCorps service and/or a full Peace Corps term. We are looking for experience with and/or interest in project management, training and development, communication, and marketing, along with the usual Microsoft Office suite.
