Organizational Development VISTA Leader at The Hub

The West Virginia Community Development Hub supports West Virginians with the tools and training they need to lead and spark positive change in their hometowns and across our state. Our purpose is to coach volunteer community leadership teams to help them build sustained development in rural communities; and grow the overall community economic development system in WV through collaborative partnerships that use innovative approaches to address systemic challenges for rural development. In late 2022, The Hub entered a catalytic period in the history of our organization. As a project leader in the Appalachian Climate Technology (ACT) Now Coalition, we received a portion of a $64 million dollar award from the Economic Development Authority (EDA) Build Back Better Regional Challenge. This came on the heels of a year of major wins in our communities and for our organization. Our team has grown, and we expect to reach more communities than ever before in 2023. The Hub is a leading stakeholder in the community and economic development ecosystem in the state. Our VISTA projects have historically focused on economic opportunity, and this proposed project is no exception. We typically focus our internal projects to serving projects within the organization, but as we have grown rapidly in the past few months, it has become abundantly clear that more capacity is needed internally to meet the growing programmatic needs of the organization. In this VISTA Leader Role, the member will support both the organization and its’ VISTA program in the actualization of that growth. In addition to working with The Hub’s Coaching Programs VISTA Leader to support members in the cohort, the VISTA Leader will also support the completion of The Hub’s 2023-28 Strategic Plan, build capacity in organizational operations, and chart a path for the VISTA Program’s growth to match that of the rest of the organization.
