Stream Teams United: Summer James River Basin Partnership
 
 
 
Stream Teams United provides AmeriCorps resources to partner Stream Team organizations throughout the state of Missouri. James River Basin Partnership is a Stream Team Organization that formed in 1997 as a grassroots, not-for-profit organization that works to improve and protect the water quality of the springs, streams, rivers, and lakes in the James River watershed which consists of almost a million acres of land in portions of eight counties. The Summer Associate serving at the James River Basin Partnership will assist the Education Outreach Coordinator with community environmental stewardship programs and water science education programs targeting low income residential properties and low income youth. The Summer Associate will assist with summer water science education programs for youth and community public awareness outreach activities. The Summer Associate will also assist with the residential yard soil sampling program by helping to collect samples, interpret results, and write nutrient management plans for properties.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate serving at the James River Basin Partnership will assist the Education Outreach Coordinator with summer education programs for youth, helping to teach water science activities to the next generation of water stewards. The Education Outreach Coordinator will train the Summer Associate in water science activities and then the Associate will help teach youth during summer classes and at outreach programs at community events and other off-site locations. In addition, the Summer Associate will assist with the soil sampling program by helping collect soil samples from residential yards and helping to interpret soil test results and write nutrient management plans for properties. The Summer Associate will help target education and environmental stewardship programs towards low income youth and properties within the service area.
