Stream Teams United: Summer The Watershed Center
 
 
 
Stream Teams United provides AmeriCorps resources to partner Stream Team organizations throughout the state of Missouri. The Watershed Committee of the Ozarks has been working to improve water quality and watershed health for the City of Springfield, Missouri since 1984. The Watershed Committee of the Ozarks coordinates a variety of programs, with the mission to sustain and improve the water resources of Springfield and Greene County through education and effective management of the region’s watersheds. As an AmeriCorps Summer Associate at the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, you will assist with the summer education program for youth, helping to connect youth to nature and raising environmental awareness of the next generation of water stewards.

Member Duties : As a Summer Associate serving at the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, you will provide direct service support at The Watershed Center to help lead low-income youth on educational nature walks and instruct them on hands-on science-based activities during summer youth field trips to The Watershed Center. The on-site education supervisor will provide orientation to The Watershed Center and its summer programming, train you in the routes and talking points for nature walks at The Watershed Center, train you in science-based activities for youth, and guide you in how to instruct youth in Watershed Center outreach programs. You will then help lead youth during field trips to The Watershed Center and provide instruction to youth on science-based activities at the Center and also at community events and/or off-site locations.
