HubCAP V Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA at The Hub

The Hub is hosting the fifth round of its Communities of Achievement Program (HubCAP V) in the communities of New Martinsville, Weston, Oak Hill, Smithers, and Montgomery. HubCAP V is a two-year program that will provide financial and technical assistance training to 5 low-income, rural communities in West Virginia that are recovering from the economic effects of COVID-19, scaling up community projects led by local leaders, and increasing local resilience to the impacts of climate change. The program will provide the support and resources for the five communities to: - Establish ongoing community engagement and leadership development processes - Identify assets and gaps and opportunities in marketability of those assets - Prioritize, plan for, and implement priority projects in the communities that will help mitigate the future effects of climate change - Build a vibrant, business friendly community, using the communities’ unique culture, arts, events, infrastructure, beautification and more - Recruit and develop businesses to utilize the unique opportunities to support local residents as well as visitors - Develop long-term planning and project execution capacity to enable each community to grow and diversify the communities and economic development activities and impacts. - Build sustainable solutions to support community recovery from the impacts of COVID-19 With support and guidance from a community coach, broad and diverse teams of leaders are formed with the desire to build the capacity to guide community revitalization and business development work in their communities. These community leaders will develop a performance-based roadmap to focus on identifying gaps and opportunities in the local economy, while developing and supporting prosperous, sustainable businesses specific to those researched community needs.
