Hamline Basic Needs Access, IAMNCC

Establishing a foundation for basic needs resources to exist long-term on Hamline University’s campus. Providing the necessary non-academic resources for low-income and underrepresented students to create an environment where they’re more likely to succeed at Hamline University and move out of poverty. Conduct research, in the form of surveys, focus groups, and informational sessions to establish what basic needs resources are most needed, and would be most beneficial to the community. Create handbooks, build partnerships and relationships with external and internal organizations, and complete research specific to basic needs resources on college campuses. Center low-income student and community voices by implementing the research conducted to gather perspectives and experiences of low-income community members. Create and establish an awareness campaign targeting the Hamline community regarding basic needs resources and poverty on campus. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
