2023 Habitat ReStore Startup VISTA - Kenosha

The goal of the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA Program is to build a better Wisconsin by assisting local organizations increase capacity and sustainability for programs focused on alleviating poverty, while developing new leadership to help strengthen Wisconsin’s communities and move them “forward.” With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Habitat for Humanity of Kenosha was founded in 2012 by community members that shared a vision to revitalize Kenosha’s neighborhoods and help hardworking, low-income families achieve a dream of homeownership. We provide affordable housing in partnership with the family’s needs, create stronger neighborhoods by restoring a sense of community and pride that comes with home ownership, and build community by joining together hundreds of volunteers for every build.

Member Duties : As the ReStore Startup VISTA you will help Habitat Kenosha prepare to open a resale store that will provide a sustainable source of funds for building and repairing homes. Activities include: 1) Working with the Marketing and ReStore Committees to develop a marketing and social media plan. 2) Develop and conduct a survey of potential donors and shoppers. 3)Represent Habitat and the ReStore at community events such as the farmers market and community concerts. 4)Revise the ReStore business plan and develop standard operating procedures. Position is 30 hours/week. Housing assistance is available. This is a great opportunity to develop business/marketing skills in a professional setting and meet internship requirements **Interviews are done on a rolling basis.
