Member Duties : The Washington University Prison Education Project is a degree-granting higher education in prison program in Missouri, offering associate and bachelor’s degrees at two Missouri prisons, as well as reentry support services to alumni returning to Missouri communities. Like non-incarcerated students, Prison Education Project (PEP) students face substantial risk of summer learning loss, made worse by the lack of academic enrichment opportunities available in a prison environment. The Summer Learning Loss Prevention VISTA members will provide direct academic support through PEP’s study hall as tutors and assess and develop programming tools to prevent summer learning loss beyond their term of service.
